Terms of use

These are the terms on which Stavo is provided. By creating an account or accepting an invitation you agree to them. Stavo is provided by Cropston Contracts Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 10334923, whose registered office is at 4 Bank Court, Weldon Road, Loughborough, Leicestershire LE11 5RF (“we”); you can reach us at [email protected].

1. What Stavo is

Stavo is a site record for building work. Builders record the work in photographs and documents, file them against the inspection stages the job runs to, and share the record with the people on that job: the client, the Building Control officer, the SAP assessor, the structural warranty inspector and, on a development, the builders the developer brings on. It is a record-keeping and communication tool. It does not carry out inspections, give building, legal, structural or energy advice, or replace any statutory inspection, approval, warranty or certificate. Whether work complies with the Building Regulations is decided by the people and bodies responsible for that, not by anything Stavo shows.

2. Accounts

Anyone can create an account in their own role: builder, developer, client, Building Control officer, SAP assessor or structural warranty inspector. A builder or developer sets up a job and names the people on it by email address; each of them joins with the job's code, and sees only the jobs they have been named on and only the part their role needs. Building Control officers and warranty inspectors give professional details, which the people on their jobs can see. You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself and for what is done under your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else is using it. You must be at least 16 and give a name and email address that are your own.

3. The record and who owns it

What is put on a job's record belongs to whoever put it there. The builder or developer who runs a job decides what goes in it and who is on it. On a developer's job, each builder's quotation, variations and payments are between that builder and the developer only. By putting something on the record you allow Stavo to store it, show it to the people on that job according to their role, and process it as needed to provide the service. You confirm you have the right to put it there, including any photograph of a person or a property.

Some entries are made to be permanent once made: a sign-off, an acceptance of a quotation or a variation, a signature. Stavo keeps them as made, with who made them and when.

4. Using Stavo properly

Do not use Stavo to store anything unlawful, to harass anyone, to put someone's information on a job they should not see, to interfere with the service or other people's accounts, or to take copies of the service's software. Do not try to reach a record you are not a member of.

5. Price

Stavo is free to use at present. If we introduce charges, we will say so clearly in advance; nothing already free will start costing money without your agreement. Purchases through the App Store or Google Play are also subject to Apple's or Google's terms.

6. Availability and changes

We aim to keep Stavo available, but it depends on networks and services we do not control and it may be interrupted for maintenance or by faults. The app is built to keep working on site with no signal and to send what it recorded when signal returns, but you should not rely on a single phone as the only copy of anything that matters until the app confirms it has reached the record. We may change or improve Stavo, and we may withdraw it on reasonable notice; if we do, you will be able to export your record first.

7. Our responsibility

We provide Stavo with reasonable skill and care. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Beyond that, we are not responsible for loss that was not a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms, for loss of business, profit or opportunity, or for decisions taken on the basis of what a record shows — the record is what its members put in it. If you are a consumer, nothing here affects your legal rights.

8. Your information

Our privacy notice says what we hold and why, and forms part of these terms.

9. Ending an account

You can stop using Stavo at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, telling you why unless the law prevents it. A builder can delete a job's record; before that, they may export it.

10. The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, without affecting a consumer's right to bring a claim where they live.
